At Philly Pride 365, we are committed to creating events that prioritize safety, wellness, accessibility, and sustainability for all attendees. Our approach to security and community care is rooted in transformative justice, ensuring that Pride remains a space where everyone feels safe, respected, and included.
We have developed a community safety model in accordance with city ordinances, the Office of Special Events, and the Office of LGBTQ Affairs. This model includes:
✅ Private Event Security: Trained security personnel stationed throughout the festival and parade.
✅ Community Marshals: Dedicated safety volunteers to assist attendees.
✅ Mental Wellness & Social Workers: On-site professionals offering support and crisis intervention.
✅ De-escalation Specialists: Trained professionals to resolve conflicts peacefully.
✅ Collaborations with Local Organizations: Partnering with community-based organizations (CBOs) and nonprofits to provide additional support.
This is an ongoing commitment, and we encourage education, awareness, and action to ensure all members of our community feel both safe and empowered at Pride events.
🔹 Highly Visible Operations: Our team will be easily identifiable in branded "Pride 365" shirts for assistance.
🔹 Trained Security Personnel: A private security firm will work alongside Galaei staff, Pride 365 volunteers, and government agencies to ensure safety.
🔹 Collaborative Venue Security: Each event venue’s security team will coordinate with Galaei’s Pride security liaisons.
🔹 Specialized Training: Security teams and volunteers undergo de-escalation, harassment prevention, and emergency response training.
🔹 Emergency Preparedness: Staff and volunteers receive active shooter, evacuation, and threat response training in partnership with EMS.
🔹 Capacity & Crowd Control: Strict adherence to venue capacity policies for safety.
🔹 Homeland Security Partnership: A security sweep will be conducted before the festival begins.
Our mission is to create a Pride experience that prioritizes safety and inclusivity, recognizing that safety looks different for everyone.
We are committed to ensuring a discrimination-free environment where all staff, volunteers, and attendees can fully participate, contribute, and celebrate without fear.
🚫 Harassment, violence, and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.
We all share the responsibility of ensuring Pride is safe for everyone. Here’s how you can help:
✅ Be Aware of Your Power & Privilege: Look out for those who may need support.
✅ Respect & Dignity for All: Treat every person with kindness and acceptance.
✅ Challenge Bias & Discrimination: Examine your actions and attitudes toward others.
✅ Speak Up: Call out harassment and discrimination when you see it.
✅ Support Survivors: Offer assistance where possible.
🚨 If you witness or experience an act of violence, contact our partner organization at the Anti-Violence Project.
🔹 See Something, Say Something: Report potential threats (violence, discrimination, unattended bags) to event staff or call 911.
🔹 Stay Safe in Groups: Use a “Pride Buddy” system, and avoid being alone when possible.
🔹 Keep Loved Ones Updated: Share your location and change of plans with someone who isn’t attending.
🔹 Stay Charged & Prepared: Bring a portable charger and write down emergency contacts in case your phone dies.
🔹 Trust Your Instincts: If something feels unsafe, remove yourself and notify event organizers.
🔹 Document & Report Incidents: If safe to do so, record incidents and alert event staff.
🔹 Plan Ahead: Choose an emergency meetup location in case you get separated from your group.
🚗 Don’t drive impaired. If you’ve been drinking or using substances, use a designated driver, ride-share, or public transit.
Together, we can make Philly Pride 365 a safe, affirming, and joyful experience for all.
